New product launches and agreements to widen application scope for supercapacitors
Many challenges such as the need to raise
energy efficiency and designing eco-friendly products are circling the
electronics and semiconductor industry. The development of supercapacitors is
one of the major boons for the industry. The application scope of
supercapacitors is increasing considerably as manufacturers are adopting
various strategies such as new product launches and agreements. New product
launches are aimed at improving the performance of battery products. Moreover,
agreements are signed to expand the product reach in new regions. The
application scope of supercapacitors will widen in the coming years as
manufacturers find new ways to tackle existing issues. According to the report
published by Allied Market Research, the global
supercapacitor market is estimated to reach $16.95 billion by 2027. Following
are some of the activities taking place across the world.
The launch of new products is a major
strategy adopted by market players to strengthen their product portfolio and
increase the market share. Moreover, they strive to close the existing gaps to
enable technology companies develop improved products. AVX Corporation, one of
the leading companies operating in the electronics and semiconductor domain,
launched a new series of supercapacitors. They are aimed at offering optimum performance
for SWaP-optimized and battery-powered products. The newly-launched series of
supercapacitors is known as SCP Series PrizmaCap™ supercapacitors.
The company outlined that the
newly-launched supercapacitors can be utilized alone or in combination with
primary and secondary batteries. This will increase the backup time and battery
time. In addition, it provides instant power pulses for pulse power handling,
energy holdup and storage, and battery assistance applications. The new range
of supercapacitors is the most suitable for applications such as wearble
devices, handheld device, wireless keyboards, e-readers, and industrial
equipment. The launch of such products opens up a new array of applications in
sectors such as commercial, consumer, and industrial electronics.
Along with the new product launches, market
players adopted the strategy of agreements to expand their market share and
product reach. Skeleton Technologies, one of the leading supercapacitor energy
storage providers, signed an agreement of €11.6 million with the Canadian
equipment distributor Class8 Energy. Under the terms of agreement, the products
of Skeleton will be distributed across the North America heavy vehicle market. Honoring
the agreement, Class8 highlighted that it will supply the supercapacitor
modules of Skeleton to UAP’s Heavy Vehicle parts division, which has the widest
distribution network in Canada.
Ants Vill, the Chief Commercial Officer at
Skeleton Technologies, stated that this agreement will expand the market
penetration of the company in the multibillion North American heavy vehicles
industry. There are various issues that the trucking industry in the North
American region is suffering. These issues include requirements of
sustainability, energy efficiency, and cost-savings. Through the usage of
supercapacitors, the industry will be able to overcome these issues. The
officials from Class8 outlined that the company will collaborate with Skeleton
in tacking the environmental issues and strive to provide the greener future
for the North American market. Such agreements will continue to play a crucial
role in preserving the environment.
