New launches of graphic processing units to enhance computing and gaming experience
Technology companies are instrumental in
developing graphic processing units (GPUs) with advanced capabilities to
smoothen computing and gaming experience for users. With continuously-evolving
requirements for performance and smooth graphic processing across the world,
established and new technology companies are launching their GPUs to expand
their customer base and raise their stakes in the market. They are launching an
entire new line of GPUs to improve gaming experience on laptops and
workstations. However, some of the players successfully tested their flagship
products and aim to compete with existing leaders in the sector. New and
advanced GPUs will be launched in the coming years as well. According to the
report published by Allied Market Research, the global
graphic processing unit market is estimated to reach $200.85 billion by
2027. Following are some of the activities taking place across the globe.
Tech giants are launching their new
products to gain the competitive edge and raise their market stake. Intel
launched the Arc series of graphics processing unit (GPU) for desktop PCs and
laptops. The company launched Arc 3 GPU for improving gaming experience and
content creation. Moreover, its Arc 5 and Arc 7 GPUs are aimed at providing
high-performance and advanced gaming experience. The company will also release
the Arc-based workstations and desktop by the end of 2022.
The tech giant highlighted that its Arc
GPUs contain a high-performance graphics (HPG) microarchitecture and can be
utilized for high-performance gaming. They are able to handle workloads of
video encoding nearly 60% faster as compared to its existing Iris Xe Integrated
GPUs. The Intel Deep Link technology is utilized for seamless cooperation with
Intel CPUs. Through the partnerships with top original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs), it will launch a new line of laptops for offering enhanced gaming and
content creation abilities. The launch of such advanced GPUs will continue as
market players aim to widen their customer base by raising the processing capabilities
and providing enhanced experience.
New technology players are making their way
into the market and announcing the launch of their new graphic processing
units. Xindong Technology announced its flagship product Fenghua GPU. This GPU
is developed to cater the needs of graphics for gaming PCs and data centers. The
Chinese GPU developer aims to compete with the tech giants in the sector.
Following the successful testing of its first Fenghua GPU, the company has not
stated the launch date yet. It is an in-house GPU and designed in collaboration
with a contract chip designer Innosilicon.
The multi-chiplet GPU supports the legacy
and modern application programming interfaces for computing and graphics needs.
These interfaces include Vulkan, DirectX, OpenCL, OpenGL, and OpenGL ES. In
addition, it works in coordination with various operating systems such as
Linux, Android, and Windows. The GPU has a PCIe Gen4 interface for making a
connection to the host along with output graphics displays such as eDP 1.4,
DisplayPort, and HDMI 2.1 interfaces. Though the company has not disclosed the
performance specification, it highlighted that it can be used for cloud gaming,
cloud mobile gaming, desktop, and workstations. The launch of new GPUs will
continue in the coming years.
